For Suzuki Marine Australia, the challenge wasn’t simply about towing a boat, but rather finding a transport solution that could keep pace with a growing, high-performance product lineup, while delivering the reliability and versatility demanded by a national operation.

A flagship worth the effort
Built in Invercargill New Zealand, Suzuki Marine’s latest showcase platform is designed for serious offshore use. The 2750 is the largest in the model line-up. A centrecab, walkaround aluminium vessel engineered for stability, durability and long-range capability.
Powered by twin 250 horsepower Suzuki outboards, delivering a combined 500 horsepower, this premium package is designed to perform in demanding conditions while maintaining efficiency and control.
Fully rigged, fuelled and equipped with trailer and accessories, the total towing mass quickly climbs beyond the limits of conventional utilities, strengthening the need for a transport solution purpose-built for the job.

Towing beyond the limits
As aluminium fishing boats continue to grow in size and capability in Australia, traditional towing options are increasingly being stretched beyond their design brief.
“What’s happening in the market right now is that…demand for larger boats is increasing and more of them require over 3,500 kg towing capacity,” Lewis explained.
With the fully rigged Stabicraft pushing into heavier territory once fuel (500 kg), engines and trailer are factored in, Suzuki Marine needed a solution that could handle the load without compromise.
The Isuzu NPR 70/45-190 Tradepack offers a 7,000 kg GVM rating and a maximum braked towing mass of 4,500 kg, with a GCM of up to 10,500 kg in the 6-speed automated manual configuration.
It’s a specification that moves beyond the limitations of traditional dual-cab utilities and into a purpose-built zone for serious transport requirements.

Rather than stepping into the world of larger American pick-up trucks, Suzuki Marine made a deliberate move toward a platform that offered greater operational flexibility.
“We chose the Isuzu based on some recommendations and due to its sheer versatility,” Lewis said.
The NPR Tradepack delivers a practical transport solution, with its heavy-duty aluminium tray, combined with external ratchet rails, removable dropsides and ladder racks, it delivers a package that can adapt to a wide range of tasks for the team at Suzuki.
“We thought, well, if we need to put freight or other products on the back of the truck, we’ve got a huge load space and it’s very versatile,” Lewis added.

More than just towing
That versatility is central to Suzuki Marine’s broader operations. As a national distributor, the business regularly attends field days, exhibitions and large-scale activations, each requiring efficient transport of multiple product types.
“We do a lot of product activations across our brands… for example, our new Isuzu will fit four or five of our motorcycles in the tray of the truck, which is a huge plus,” Lewis explained.
This flexibility reduces the need for third-party logistics while giving the business greater control over how and when its products are moved. Boats, outboards and even other Suzuki assets can all be transported using a single, integrated solution.
Confidence on the road
Putting the NPR Tradepack to work, Lewis recently completed an extended towing run through regional Victoria, providing a real-world test of its capabilities.
“Around town, I didn’t actually notice that the boat was on the back,” he said.

On the open road, that translates into stable towing behaviour and predictable handling.
“It tracked well… it was driving nicely across some pretty average Victorian back roads,” Lewis noted.
The cab-over configuration also enhances manoeuvrability, a key advantage when navigating tight access points or reversing the 15-metre tailer down boat ramps.
“It’s super easy to back it into the boat ramps and move it around the boat yards,” he added.
“We were a little apprehensive about not having a full-time four-wheel drive on steep, slippery boat ramps, although with features like hill start assist and an electric park brake, we’ve had no issues at all.”

“The cabin is very quiet, and the infotainment unit is a useful addition.
“It’s also a really safe vehicle, with all the latest safety aids… they’ve put a lot of thought into it,” he added
