Keys to the Kingdom: WA Earth-Mover Wins Isuzu’s Ultimate Workhorse
Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) is pleased to announce Kevin Hort of KTB Contractors in Western Australia as the winner of its major truck giveaway, a centrepiece celebration marking the launch of the all-new MY25 Isuzu truck range.
Based in Western Australia, Kevin Hort has built a longstanding career in the building and construction industry, contributing to a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential earth moving projects across the state.
A long-time Isuzu customer, Mr Hort said the win came as a complete surprise.
“I was amazed, excited and pleased all at once. I’ve never really won anything of that magnitude before,” Mr Hort said.
“When they told me I’d won, my first reaction was, ‘you’re shi**ing me’… I just couldn’t believe it,” he laughed.
Kevin’s selection as the winner reflects not only the scale of participation in the competition, but also the strong connection between Isuzu Trucks and Australia’s hardworking trade and construction sectors.
Giving back
Head of Marketing and Customer Experience at Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL), John Walker, said the giveaway was conceived as a meaningful way to mark a significant milestone for the brand while giving back to the customers who underpin its success.
“The launch of our all-new Isuzu truck range represents one of the most important chapters in our history, so we wanted to celebrate it in a way that genuinely resonated with our customers,” Mr Walker said.
The giveaway was first launched as part of Isuzu’s official public unveiling of its new range at last year’s Brisbane Truck Show in Brisbane.
“The Brisbane Truck Show was an important moment for us to put these trucks in front of the people who use them every day,” Mr Walker said.
“This giveaway brings that story to life; it shows exactly who the MY25 range is built for and how it supports real Australian operators.”“Kevin’s a fantastic example of that, and we are delighted to be handing over the keys.”
The prize
At the heart of the prize package is a brand-new Ready-to-Work NLR 45-150 Traypack with a generous accessory pack, Isuzu merchandise, a three-year Total Service Agreement and all topped-off with a VIP Experience to the V8 Supercars Adelaide ‘Grand Final’ for Kevin and three lucky guests, which took place last year.
Representing the latest evolution in the brand’s product offering, the Traypack showcases advancements in safety, efficiency, and driver-focused design, reflecting extensive development informed by real-world operator feedback.
“Our new range has been engineered with a clear focus on what matters most to our customers,” Mr Walker continued.“That means improved safety systems, refined driveability, and a cabin environment that prioritises comfort and ease of use during long hours on the road. It is a truck designed not just to perform, but to support the people behind the wheel.”
A long association
Mr Hort, who has owned and operated a string of Isuzu vehicles throughout a career spanning four decades, praised the latest model.
“I’m in the process of winding down my business, but I’ve had eight Isuzu trucks over my time, and they’ve always delivered for me. The backup and service through Major Motors here in Perth has been first class all the way through,” he said.
“I’ve got to say, the new little Isuzu is an absolute delight to drive. The new transmission is wonderful and has made a huge difference.
“It’s a beautiful little truck, every bit as good as the promos I’d read about the new model.”
In it to win it
“The response to both the competition and the new range has been extremely encouraging,” Mr Walker said.
“We’ve seen strong engagement from existing customers as well as new audiences who are taking a closer look at what Isuzu has to offer.”
Mr Walker added that the giveaway underscores Isuzu’s ongoing commitment to supporting Australian businesses, particularly in industries where reliability and efficiency are critical.
“Construction, trade, and logistics businesses form the backbone of our customer base, and they operate in demanding conditions every day,” he said.
“Our goal is to provide equipment that helps them do their jobs more effectively, safely, and comfortably. Initiatives like this are one way we can acknowledge that partnership and say, ‘thank you’.”
‘Awesome’ experience
Reflecting on the broader prize experience, Mr Hort said the additional elements made the win even more memorable.
“It was absolutely awesome. Especially the Supercars experience over in Adelaide. It was first class, really well organised and we had a fantastic weekend,” he said.
“They made us feel welcome. It was a great experience, especially as a lifelong petrol head and motorsports fan.”
Mr Hort also acknowledged the role of Isuzu’s dealer network.
“Major Motors have been awesome over the years. They’ve always been my go-to,” he said.
“I’m extremely grateful. I couldn’t have wished for a better retirement present.”
As Kevin Hort takes delivery of his new Isuzu truck and prize package, IAL looks ahead to continuing the rollout of its all-new range across Australia, supported by its national dealer network and customer service infrastructure.
“This giveaway has been a great way to celebrate the arrival of our new line-up, but it is just the beginning. We are looking forward to seeing these trucks out on Australian roads, delivering for businesses like Kevin’s every single day,” Mr Walker said.
