Isuzu Welcomes New Owners of Crokers Truck Centre
Crokers Truck Centre is entering a new phase of life as Western Truck Group takes ownership of the well-known sales and service centre in Paget, Mackay.
A highly regarded name in the automotive industry, Crokers have serviced transport operators in the region for over four decades.
For 38 years of those years, Crokers has partnered with the Isuzu Trucks brand, recently adding Isuzu Power Solutions to their roster of products.
Ben Lasry, Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) Head of Network Development, celebrated the long-standing partnership between Isuzu and Crokers, as new owners Western Truck Group take the reins.
“Isuzu has been proudly affiliated with the Crokers Truck Centre since 1983, allowing us to support our broad network of customers in northeast Queensland,” Mr Lasry said.
“Our sincere thanks go to long serving directors Glen Croker and Ross Kynaston, and the entire team at Crokers for their tireless efforts representing Isuzu, providing our customers with a warm welcome for over three decades.
“They’ve made an indelible mark on both the town and our industry as a whole and we are very grateful for their dedication over many years.
“We would also like to extend a warm welcome to Western Truck Group as they step into their new role,” Mr Lasry continued.
“We have every confidence our partnership will continue to produce excellent outcomes for all parties going forward.”
With a far-reaching network throughout the country, Western Truck Group are well placed to take on the large centre in Mackay.
In 2018, the group established itself as a vital industry partner in the region after acquiring the Queensland Truck Centre—operating in the areas of the Sunshine Coast, Mt Isa and Toowoomba.
“We are delighted to bring Crokers under the banner of Western Truck Group,” commented Dealer Principal, Joe White.
“It is a rare gem and a fantastic opportunity for the group to acquire a business like this, with its strong local history and reputation in the area.
“Our focus will be ensuring that loyal customers are given the same attention and excellent service as we continue to grow on the Crokers legacy.”
Transport and the Croker name have been linked together for generations, beginning in 1889 when James Croker established James and Croker and Sons—responsible for exporting all of Mackay’s raw sugar at the time.
The company operated for over a hundred years, eventually separating into different entities including branches in homewares, fertiliser, shipping and steel and pipe galvanising, among others.
The fuel and truck businesses which continue today were purchased by some of the original owners during the 1800s.
In 2021, the Croker family name is now synonymous for quality automotive sales and service.
